The Hysterical Historical Show

Presented by Lipservice Theatre

Cult theatre company and comedy duo LipService return to their stand up roots in the Hysterical Historical Show. A whacky whirlwind tour of Britain’s female national treasures. Meet notorious gossip Mrs Gaskell and her timid friend Charlotte Brontë, learn about Marie Stopes and her little known friendship with Scott of the Antarctic, stage a protest with the ever radical Panhursts, meet Georgian housekeeper and inventor of cuppa soup Elizabeth Raffald, Anne Horniman, creator of the modern repertory theatre and many more.
Nothing is sacred. But we hope you have been paying attention because there will be a quiz, not a very serious one, with points…
…and points mean prizes.
Part sketch show, part pub quiz, this show has all the ingredients of a fun night out.

Maggie Fox and Sue Ryding met as Drama students at Bristol University in a very serious Ibsen production which had the audience on the floor laughing. A tragedy for Ibsen but the launch of a very long comedy partnership. Maggie and Sue formed LipService in 1985 and have produced 20 original comedies for the stage, had series on Radios 2 and 4, plus TV appearances. They tour nationally in the UK but have also toured to Pakistan, USA, Eastern Europe and Germany. They have won many awards.
